Description
This a Photo of a print of the USS Enterprise CVAN-65 underway somewhere in Yankee Station in the 1960's. This Painting is showing her turning to come into the wind so she could conduct Flight Ops. Enterprise was the First Nuclear powered SuperCarrier. She had 8 Reactors and 32 Steam Generators. Each of her 4 Main Engines were capable of producing 70,000 HP. Enterprise was the Fastest Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carrier in the Fleet, capable of doing more than the advertised 30 knots ( ~34MPH ) She was always the "Carrier With Class". I served on board the Enterprise for almost 10 1/2 years between 1967 and my retirement in 1989. She was an Awesome Ship as this painting by John Charles Roach tends to depict.
